AroLite™ and AroLite™ DX

Description
AroLite and AroLite DX are blankets made of glass fibers and highly-specialized resins. These products are produced in an uncured state and are specifically designed to be molded into automotive headliner substrates and other interior acoustical components.

Odor Control
Glass fibers in both AroLite and AroLite DX are bonded with a proprietary binder that virtually eliminates one "new car smell" that buyers sometime object to. Over the years, auto owners in high-humidity areas have occasionally objected to unpleasant odors resulting from a chemical reaction between phenolic binder and moisture which produces trimethylamine (TMA). TMA has a "fishy" odor that most people find undesirable. The binder used in AroLite prevents TMA levels from reaching the level of human detection.

Dust Control
Johns Manville addresses occasional dust complaints by auto workers with AroLite DX. Originally developed for low-dust underhood acoustical components, the glass fibers in this product are bonded with a special latex binder. This encapsulates the intersections of the fibers allowing them to bend without shattering. Comparative testing demonstrates that this technology reduces airborne fibers 80 percent and dust 70 percent.
